Explainer Animation – An animated recipe video showing how to prepare «Agua de Jamaica», a traditional Latin American hibiscus drink. Created as part of my vocational training. Storyboard drawn in Procreate, illustrations and backgrounds developed in Illustrator, animated in After Effects.
Concept
The goal was to explain a simple recipe in an engaging way. The camera stays focused on the ingredients and each step of the preparation, while a voiceover shares facts about the drink's origin in Mexico. Inspired by soft gradients and minimal, stylized shapes, the animation is set in a kitchen with a Caribbean feel.
Still Frame – Sunset scene from the animation
Storyboard – Digitally drawn in Procreate
Process
I started with a script that matched each line of the voiceover with the visuals, then sketched a storyboard to plan every scene and transition. Ingredients drop into the frame from above, each step flows into the next through smooth transitions, and a bird's-eye view breaks up the perspective while the drink steeps.
